Which Country has a Five Sided Flag?
Posted in Geography
Nepal is the only country which has five sided flag.
Nepal doesn’t have the standard square or rectangle national flag. Nepalese national flag is a combination of two similar pennants.
Its crimson red color symbolizes victory in war. Nepal’s national flower is printed on one pennant. Blue color on border signifies peace in the region.
On the 2nd pennant there is crescent moon and sun. However after 1962 the flag was updated to give a modern look. Moon, sun and the crescent with faces were removed from the flag to give it a contemporary feel.
This flag was introduced after the beginning of new democratic government in 16th December 1962. The original design was inspired by the Hindu culture and it was in use for over 2,000 years.
