What Type Of Wine Is Pinot Noir?

Pinot Noir is a light red wine with great reputation. In French “pinot” means “pine” and “noir” means “black”.

This type of wine usually refers to wines predominantly made from “Pinot Noir“, grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. However the most appreciated is the one made entirely of Pinot Noir grapes.

Regarding the quality of wines, it depends not only from grape variety but also from quality of land, topography and climate. For all of those reasons Pinot Noir which comes from Burgundy, France is specialy appriciated.

Pinot Noir grapes are characterized as the most difficult for cultivation because its sensitivity on mold, diseases and frost. It is cultivated all over the world. The wine itself is sensitive and fickle and the most difficult to ferment.
