What Is The Name Of The First Spreadsheet Program?
Spreadsheets are used mostly for financial calculation and accounting. In the past there was no possibility to do such operations electronically so people had to do them manually. Now it’s much easier to calculate and organize data since we have Spreadsheet computer programs to do that for us.
The name of the first spreadsheet program is VisiCalc. “VisiCalc” is short version of “visible calculator”. It was introduced to public in 1979 and became an instant success. Its price was 100 US dollars and about 1 000 000 copies were sold during its lifetime.
Inventors of VisiCalc are Daniel Brickling and Bob Frankston.
For its characteristics belongs fourth generation software program.
VisiCalc success lasted till 1983 when Lotus 1-2-3 was released.
