What do the colors of the France flag stand for?

There are three color vertical bands in flag of France. These color bands are Blue, White and Red. Blue color signifies care and duty for under-privileged, White color symbolizes peace and harmony in the region and Red color stands for strength and bravery of the nation.

Blue Color

The initial vertical color band in flag of France is Blue. Blue is considered and symbolizes sense of care for the poor in the country. The current Flag of France was made after the French Revolution. This blue color stands for the famous incident where a rich Roman solder had cut his blue colored coat and offered it to a needy man who was dying with cold. Afterwards the Roman solider dreamed that Jesus Christ was wearing the blue color coat he offered to the poor man. That Roman Solider is remembered as Saint Martin as he dedicated his entire life for helping poor.

White Color

White color stands for nobility, royalty, peace and harmony. However white color is also associated with Virgin Mary. Louis XIII had devoted France to Virgin Marry in 17th century. Joan of Arc had also used White flag during her wars against the English. Bourbon Dynasty latter adopted this White color in the flag and it became a permanent color of Royalty and Peace in the region.

Red Color

Red color is dedicated to Saint Denis. Saint Denis supported and devoted his life on the preaching of pagan priests. Red color in the flag is considered dipping blood of Saint Denis; therefore it stands for bravery and strength of the people.
