Istanbul is the city that stands on Bosphorous. It is situated in Turkey and it is the one of the largest cities in the world. It’s the hub of culture and commercial activity in Turkey and hence is of vital importance to the country.
An interesting fact about Istanbul is that it is located on two different continents- Asia and Europe.
The majority of the population, i.e. 7 out of 10 residents of Istanbul are in the European part while the remaining live in the Asian part. Most of the citizens are Muslims, followed by Christians and Jews. It is easy to understand that the city has a mix of various cultures because of rich history and tradition, which is what makes it very unique.
Istanbul was the city ruled by the Romans and site of many historical important locations. Some of these have been included in the list of heritage sites. Istanbul was the centre of Turkey’s political activity and has occupied a strategic place in the trade and commerce sphere. It is also a leading city in terms of education. Istanbul is a preferred tourist spot and is well equipped with all the facilities to benefit from its rich cultural, political and economic importance.
