How old was Edmund Hillary when he climbed Mount Everest?
Sir Edmund Percival Hillary was 33 years old when he climbed Mount Everest just three weeks before his birthday.
He was born on 20th July 1919 and is the most popular explorer and mountaineer from New Zealand. On 29th May 1953 at the age of 33 Sir Edmund Percival Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first mountaineers who reached summit of Mount Everest. Edmund Hillary was an outstanding mountaineer in his early childhood and climbed Mount Olivier in 1933. After the successful journey he dedicated most of his life helping Sherpa people of Nepal by Himalayan Trust. He established the Himalayan Trust for helping the Sherpa people of Nepal and founded many schools and hospitals in remote areas of Nepal. He died at age 88 onĀ 11 January 2008 from myocardial infarction.
