How long is the Great Wall of China?

The Great Wall of China is a construction marvel spread across nearly 8,852 km, built in an age that did not have any of the technological advancements as of today. It is truly a Wonder of the world and it is a Heritage site. It is possibly the only man made structure that can be seen from the space. Remarkable and magnificent are words that are enough to describe the detail and effort that has gone in building this wall. It attracts millions of visitors from all over the world. However, the Great Wall has stood mighty and strong in the face of attacks from the forces of nature. But it will be at the hands of the humans that it might just one day be brought to its knees. With growing urbanization, the wall has seen parts of it reduced in height, while other parts have been used for construction or been defaced by people.

Built to protect the powerful Chinese empires in as early as the fifth B.C., the Great Wall extends a mind boggling figure of 8851.8kms inclusive of walls and natural elements in between such as rivers. In some parts, it is as high as nearly 26 ft while in some ravaged places, it stands less than 7 ft.
