How long is the Tour de France?The Tour de France is a world renowned race that is carried on by bicyclists from all across the world to be declared by one and all as superhuman. The Pride of France, the race was first started in as early as 1903 and continues to be one of the most awaited sporting spectacles every year. Although there have been riders who have won the race many a time over, the one with the most wins has been Lance Armstrong, winning it for 7 years in a row.

The tour initially stretched across the boundary of France covering various towns and cities and culminating in Paris. The distance covered by the riders is about 3500 kms and in the past, there have been races with lesser and greater distances. It has stages everyday that a rider has to complete ranging from the flat to the mountainous. The race is spread over 3 weeks, with 2 days of rest time while being transported from one town to another for the commencement of a stage. The time taken to finish the race is a cumulative figure of all the stages. The rider with the best figure wins.
