According to the Guinness book of records, the largest dog in the world was an English Mastiff named Zorba. From the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail he was 2.51 meters long, 94 cm high at the shoulder and was weighing exactly 156 kg. English Mastiffs are known for their massive bodies with square heads and broad skull and chest. They can be surpassed in height by Irish Wolfhound and Great Dane, but these breeds tend to be more slimmer and don’t have such massive frame. According to standards of American Kennel Club, the prescribed minimum height for English Mastiff is 76 cm for the male and 70 cm for the female. Their weight has to be 69 to 110 kg and 55 to 91 kg for males and females, respectively. Just for comparison, minimum weight for Great Danes is 54 kg and 45 kg for males and females respectively.
